Brief history and geological characteristics: Topaz is a gemstone popular for its hardness, transparency and availability in various colours. In contrary to other gemstones, for some reason it was not known and mined in the ancient times. The name is usually derived Latin word topazus or from the Greek words tοpáziοs, tοpáziοn or Τοπαζος – the ancient name of St. John's Island in the Red Sea. It was a secret hidden island, which was difficult to find and from which a yellow stone was mined in ancient times. However this yellowish stone is now believed to be Peridot (yellowish olivine) rather than the stone we call Topaz today.
Spiritual and healing energy: Topaz is a stabilising and a very gentle stone. It releases tension, balances emotions, motivates and brings joy. It shines to show us the right direction in our life journey and helps us to define our goals. Topaz is also believed to bring success, good fortune and synchronicity. It is able to direct your energy where it is needed the most. It brings the trust in the Higher Intelligence. Traditionally, it was known as the stone of love, generosity and good fortune that enables us to achieve our goals. Nothing negative will survive in the surrounding of the joyful Topaz. On the rational level, it supports the ability to see problems from bigger perspective as well as in detail and to understand them in their complexity. On the physical level, Topaz could be used for healing anorexia and other illnesses connected to the digestive system. It provides with appetite and stabilises the nervous system.
